Why I wrote it
An intellectual audit can reveal how a structure was assembled. It cannot guarantee that the person who dismantles it will know how to live among the remains. This novella continues the inquiry through imagined encounters, where competing ideas become questions a person must live with.

Doubt is a useful instrument. It can expose weak joints, false claims and conclusions protected only by repetition. It can reveal where evidence ends and obedience begins. It can separate words attributed to God from the ambitions of those who speak in His name.
But an instrument is not a dwelling place.
A hammer can break open a locked room. It cannot tell the person who steps outside where to live.
